NEV Leasing wants to buy your well-travelled, your properly used electric car. We've already got a name picked out. Now we just need the car
We're looking for a Volkswagen ID.3 from c.2020, 2021 or 2022 model and with a minimum of 80,000 miles on the clock.
Ideally a 58kWh Pro variant in reasonable condition, with a full service history.
We're also looking for something with a bit of character. Because we've already decided what we're calling it.
Well we will meet, just as soon as we find him.

Now. You're probably wondering why on earth a vehicle leasing business is advertising for a high-mileage used electric car on its own website and why they've already named it before they've even found it.
It’s a fair question so let us explain.
One of the things that genuinely frustrates us about the EV conversation and we've been having it for years s how much of it happens in the abstract rather than real life.

That’s why we quote not only the manufacturer stated range but also a real world estimate – and also charging speed for 10%-80% across all charging options – but these refer to new vehicles and now we’re going one step further.
Real life is a family in Essex doing the school run, the weekly shop, a trip to see the in-laws in Norwich, the week-end sports game and the occasional longer journey that requires a bit of planning.
Real life is a used electric car bought for around £10,000 instead of a used Qashqai [ other used cars are available for £10k ] that needs to work every day without drama.
That's what we want to find out about. Properly. On the road. Over time.

We're launching NEV Leasing's used EV leasing product in the near future and to coincide with that launch, we're doing something we think is a little bit different.
We're buying a high-mileage ID.3, giving him a name, and running him as a working project car for two years.
We'll document everything. Charging costs. Real-world range in the summer and depth of winter. Trip planning. Battery health. What it costs to run month by month. What surprises us. What doesn't. The good days and the slightly less good ones.
Neville will be living his best life and we'll be recording every single mile of it.
Neville will also get a fairly spectacular makeover. We're working with local primary schools across Essex whose pupils will design the graphics that wrap the car [ Chat GPT came up with an idea – but we think the primary school kids will do so much better! ] .

So he'll be distinctive, community-rooted, and genuinely one of a kind. We think that's rather fitting for a project that's all about making electric vehicles feel more accessible and less intimidating.
Neville's entire journey … both literally and figuratively … will be tracked across our social media channels and documented here on the website. No spin. No agenda. Just honest, real-world EV living in 2026 with a well-travelled Volkswagen who's got plenty of travelling still to do!
Because that's where the real questions are...
The number one concern we hear from people considering a used electric vehicle isn't the price. It isn't the charging. It's the battery. "The batteries don’t last do they? … What's it actually like after 80,000 miles? … Does it still do the range after all those miles ? … Is it going to let me down?"
