Getting ahead of the market - disposing of a double cab pick-up
With BIK Tax changes looming in April, our client wanted to avoid the risk of a sudden drop in resale value of their Ford Ranger double cab. We arranged a strong trade sale from our panel of buyers while market demand for ordering / purchasing double cab pick-ups was very active and bouyant. The transaction was completed quickly and effortlessly by us on behalf of the customer
- Premium Practicality - Switching to a used EV
The customer wanted a premium replacement for the Ranger, and even though it didn't need to be a commercial vehicle, it had to be tax efficient as it was being funded by the business. Our discussions centred on electric vehicles to meet these needs - initially focussing on charging, range, maintenace and longetivity before moving the choice of vehicle options.
A clear preference was appearing during our conversations, however, as our customer had long aspired to having a Porsche, and now through the business this could become a reality in the shape of a Porsche Taycan. We located a suitable used vehicle, arranged a test drive and introduction, sense checked pricing and reviewed all elements of our discussions to ensure this was the right solution for them and would meet their expectations both now and in the future - at which point the deal was concluded

Electric Commercial vehicle - a better option for their journeys
Their oldest vehicle, a Ford Transit Custom diesel, was up for renewal. Most of their work was in or around London and they were coming under increased pressure and expectation to demonstrate how they are working towards reducing their emissions and helping to improve the capital's air quality. At the same time they needed a solution that didn't compromise their ability to carry their equipment, safety and security.
Our transition to electric commercial vehicles is much slower than cars. Many factors affecting uptake but for our customer the biggest concerns when considering electric were realistic range, especially when loaded, and the subsequent impact on productivity if public charging breaks needed to the factored in.
We guided them through the real-world aspects of running an electric van - paying close attention to range expectations in both summer and winter - together with charging options. Once it became clear an electric van was viable, additional aftermarket security measures were proposed to meet their concerns regarding drive safety, London traffic and the risk of theft from the vehicle.
The customers existing van was a Ford, and this familiarity was a key factor in the customer being comfortable opting for the Ford E-Transit Custom - along with the real-world range estimates.
A highly competitive price was secured for the new vehicle and they opted for an outright purchase over funded contract hire or finance lease as they wanted to ultimately own the vehicle and have flexibility over the timing of disposal. The purchase included the customer using our key-for-key part exchange service for their existing van with nevleasing.
We undertook all arrangements regarding the fit-out of the van and delivery, down to the new van arriving on a transporter, fully charged and ready for work. This was all in time for the customer to take advantage of the 100% capital allowance for electric vans within the current tax year.
